The Premise

Information is abundant.
Expert judgement is not.

RigorOS exists to make an organisation's expertise durable, governable and available whenever it is needed.

01A foundational belief

In an AI-rich world, institutional expertise becomes more important — not less.

Technology can now produce information at extraordinary speed. But information alone does not define what matters, what good looks like or how judgement should be applied within in a particular organisation.

Those things remain the work of experts. RigorOS is built to help organisations capture that work, retain ownership of it and make it more consequential.

02The Mission

“RigorOS flips the usual idea of AI in education on its head. Instead of using AI to bypass institutional expertise, we use it to give students 24/7 access to the knowledge, standards and expert judgement of their own institution.”

RigorOS Founder, David Hillier

03The Founder Story

Expertise should not depend on personal availability.

RigorOS was founded by David Hillier, a designer, entrepreneur and co-founder of One to One Hundred, an independent creative studio established in Auckland in 2004.

Over more than two decades of building a specialist professional practice, David saw the same problem repeatedly: an organisation's most valuable expertise often lives in the judgement of experienced people. It can be taught, documented and shared, but applying it consistently still depends heavily on those people being personally available.

The emergence of generative AI created a different possibility — not replacing that expertise with generic intelligence, but giving organisations a way to codify their own knowledge and standards and make expert judgement available at a scale that was previously impractical.

RigorOS grew from that idea: AI should make organisational expertise more consequential, not less.

04What we are building for

01

Expertise that endures

Knowledge should not disappear into fragmented systems or leave with the people who developed it.

02

Judgement that can be examined

When organisations apply expertise at scale, they need to understand the standards and methodology behind it.

03

Access that creates opportunity

Expertise should not be limited by the availability of the experts who created it.
