Protocols define how organisational expertise should be applied. They bring together authorised knowledge, evaluation criteria, boundaries, outputs and Reference Examples that demonstrate what the organisation's standards look like in practice.
Once published, a Protocol Version becomes a stable methodology. Changes create a new version rather than rewriting the method used for earlier evaluations.
Every Evaluation preserves the exact methodology, knowledge, Reference Examples and configuration used to produce it — making the judgement traceable and reproducible.

03What makes the model different
Standards made concrete
Reference Examples show what an organisation's standards look like when applied to real work. Within a Protocol, experts establish the level of performance each example represents, giving RigorOS concrete benchmark anchors for evaluation.
Judgement refined through expertise
Calibration lets experts review how those standards are being interpreted and establish precedent for comparable evaluations. Future judgement improves without altering the methodology or evaluations that came before it.

Published methodologies can be delivered to defined audiences without giving them access to the systems used to author and govern them. RigorOS controls who can use a methodology, when it is available and what supporting knowledge can be seen through Offerings.
Students receive a focused, institution-branded portal for learning and improvement. The institution retains control of the knowledge, standards and methodology behind it.
